03rd March 2016 - 1 comment
I have just taken delivery of the brand new Fuji X-Pro2 camera with the 18-135mm lens being added to my collection.
With a 24mp sensor, larger screen, full weather-proofing and a host of other improvements, I am looking forward to putting this new combination to good use.

New Kit
17th January 2014 - 0 comments
Santa was good to me at Christmas. I am now the proud owner of a FUJIFILM X-PRO1 compact system camera. A much lighter piece of kit compared to my old Canon DSLR, it is a significant upgrade and produces outstanding image quality. I started with 2 prime lenses and have now added a couple of zooms. Loving it!!
Northumberland Outing
25th April 2013 - 0 comments
I'm not long back from a few days snapping in Northumberland. Yet another workshop with Gary Groucutt. For the most part the weather was "challenging" but there was still quite a variation in the light and I was pleased with quite a number of the shots taken - especially around Bamburgh Castle.
You can see the results at Northumberland with a few black and white conversions at Black & White
Glasgow Panoramas
04th February 2013 - 0 comments
I've been out and about in Glasgow for a few shots, mostly honing my skills on panorama shots. I liked the effects I got at the Palace of Versailles, when I took 4 or 5 shots of buildings close in and then stitched them together - giving a kind of horizontal fish-eye effect. I even tried a 3 x 2 matrix and stitched them together for an unusual view of the south front of the main building at Glasgow University - see Glasgow University Panorama
The rest can be seen at with some mono conversions at Comments would be much appreciated.
Paris 2013

Just back from a few days in Paris. I managed to fire off a few shots in between the showers of rain. The results can be seen at Paris 2013

London 2012
15th August 2012 - 0 comments
A few days in London during the Olympics allowed me to get a few shots taken. It's very difficult to find a new angle - especially from the top of a tour bus. At least I managed to get one or two which confirmed I was there during the Olympic games.
Squiggly Bridge
07th May 2012 - 0 comments
I have added a couple of shots taken on a photography walkabout recently. The sun was just setting and the colours were really good. I've photographed the bridge before, but it's always worth another go.
Lake District Workshop
27th April 2012 - 0 comments
I have created a folder for some shots I took on a photographic workshop to the Lake District. First of all, I have to say many thanks to Gary Groucutt -
Although the weather was often wet and miserable (or dramatic and moody, as he would call it!!), Gary's knowledge - technical, artistic and geographical - provided some fantastic opportunities. You can see a sample at :-
This was the second of Gary's workshops I have attended and they are to be highly recommended. Many thanks, Gary.

Hillend Reservoir
11th April 2012 - 0 comments
Just a couple of shots added from a run out I made to Hillend Reservoir, near Caldercruix. It looked a bit more interesting on Google than it did when I got there.
Lisbon Trip
02nd April 2012 - 0 comments
I have created a folder for some shots I took in Lisbon. The weather was terrific and there was plenty to shoot. You can see a sample at :-

I have a workshop in the Lake District coming up and I'm looking forward to getting a few more shots taken there.

Forth Bridges

At last I managed to get a couple of shots of the two Forth Bridges - free from all tarpaulins and scaffolding. One of the shots converted well to a mono image so I have included it in the Black & White portfolio.

Mull Photography Workshop
18th May 2011 - 0 comments
Two days on Mull on a photography workshop. In the words of the photographer running the course, the weather was "atmospheric and moody". I prefer to call it plain "wet and miserable". I think we settled on "challenging". The pictures that survived the conditions can be seen at :-
Many thanks to Sam Jones.
Images added - Aviemore Trip
